Research Opportunities for Students

Providing students with meaningful research opportunities is important. We offer a variety of programs from year-long lab assignments for students pursuing research careers to shorter programs for students wanting to develop basic research skills.

Funded Programs

The School of Medicine offers several funded research programs for students.

PREP: Post-Baccalaureate Research Program

PREP provides a year of post-baccalaureate training to minority students who have indicated a desire to enter graduate school with the aim of obtaining a Ph.D. degree in the Biomedical Sciences.

SOAR: Student Opportunities for Academic Achievement Through Research Program

This program provides research opportunities to USC SOM medical students during the summer following their first year.
