Bio

Research Interest(s): My broad research interests are diseases of the esophagus and esophageal physiology. The majority of my research activities are patient focused on dysphagia, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), extra-esophageal manifestations of GERD, achalasia, esophageal spasm, eosinophilic esophagitis, and esophageal manometry. I have been a research fellow at the Medical University of South Carolina and currently the Joy McCann Culverhouse Center for Swallowing Disorders at the University of South Florida. My current research goal is to further investigate aspects of the inflammatory response in achalasia by correlating biomarker profiles with clinical features and comparing biomarker and microRNA profiles in achalasia to eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and GERD.
