The College of Pharmacy partners with a range of pharmacy providers to provide students with experiential learning and research opportunities.

Pre-residency Track Applicants

Application into the track is for rising students in professional years one and two. A call for interested students occurs in the spring or summer each year. Applications are preferred by Aug. 15th but can be submitted at any time of year. Complete the application.

Community Residency (PGY-1) Applicants

PalmettoHealth Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY-1)

Interested candidates must have a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and eligibility for licensure in South Carolina.

Other requirements include:

  • completed application via PhORCAS
  • official transcripts and class rank
  • curriculum vitae
  • letter of intent
  • three written letters of recommendation in addition to the standard reference form in PhORCAS
  • writing sample - please write, at most, a one-page description of your vision of the future of pharmacy clinical services.
  • an onsite interview is required. All applicants for the residency must participate in ASHP's residency match program.

Greenville Health System Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY-1)

All candidates must meet the following criteria and submit their application in PhORCAS:

  • doctor of Pharmacy degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education accredited degree program
  • licensed or eligible to apply for a license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina
  • participation in the ASHP residency matching program
  • copy of transcripts: Undergraduate or non-pharmacy transcripts are not required. Only pharmacy school-related coursework must be submitted.
  • three professional references using the standardized reference template in the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS)
  • copy of curriculum vitae
  • letter of intent describing reasons for seeking residency

The following are considered during the selection process:

  • professional competence. Based on the candidate’s performance in clinical clerkships or other practical experience
  • scholastic achievement. Based on the candidate’s college record
  • communication skills. Based on the candidate’s personal interview, clerkship and academic performance. An on-site interview is required
  • leadership potential. Based on the nature and extent of the candidate’s participation in professional societies, community or public services and social activities.
  • ability to work cooperatively with others
  • comprehension of the current standards of pharmacy practice
  • understanding of the challenge of professional pharmacy practice

Infectious Diseases Residency (PGY-2)

The program will use PhORCAS and the residency match process. Please submit the following application materials via PhORCAS:

  • letter of intent
  • curriculum vitae
  • three letters of reference (Please ask your references to cut and paste their letter content into the additional program specific comment field. In PhORCAS, up to 6,500 characters is allowed in the comment field, which translates to a two-page letter.)
