Early Assurance Program

 The University of South Carolina (USC) College of Pharmacy (COP) offers an early assurance program known as the Gamecock Pharmacy Assurance (GPA) Program. The GPA Program is designed for exceptional high school students who commit to pursuing a career in pharmacy prior to entering college.  The program intends to encourage graduating high school students who have achieved academic distinction by issuing a provisional early acceptance into the USC College of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Program. Candidates who are admitted into this program are expected to matriculate into the USC College of Pharmacy PharmD Program at the beginning of their third collegiate year. 

GPA Program Benefits

Students enrolled in the GPA Program receive exclusive benefits, including:

  • Notification of acceptance into the PharmD Program two years earlier than standard admissions processes
  • Assured acceptance into the PharmD Program pending completion of all maintenance requirements
  • Exemption from PCAT requirement
  • Ability to better prepare for the rigors of the PharmD Program by focusing on pharmacy prerequisite courses instead of the admissions process
  • Completion of the PreParE Program Certificate
  • Preferential registration for a Pre-Pharmacy section of University 101 and PHAR 401
  • Eligiblility for membership on the USC COP Recruitment and Diversity Committees
  • Press release to your high school upon acceptance into the GPA Program
