Certificates of Graduate Study

The Arnold School offers five different certificate options for post-baccalaureate graduate studies.

Certificate of Graduate Study in Aging

The Certificate of Graduate Study in Aging is an 18-hour post-bachelor's certificate providing training in the (1) planning, administration, and provision of health programs and interventions, (2) sociocultural issues surrounding health, behavior, and aging, (3) health care services and community resources, and (4) long-term care policies. Students earning master's or doctoral degrees in related disciplines are offered the opportunity to obtain specialized preparation for career paths in the interdisciplinary field of aging.

Certificate of Graduate Study in Global Health

The 18-hour Certificate of Graduate Study in Global Health prepares students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work on global health issues by focusing on topics such as comparative health systems and policies; health care administration, finance and services; sociocultural perspectives on health; and development and evaluation of health promotion programs that are sensitive to local context.

Certificate of Graduate Study in Health Communication

The Certificate of Graduate Study in Health Communication is an interdisciplinary program designed to enhance the professional or clinical skills of working practitioners in public health organizations and the media. It will also help academics and researchers to better design and evaluate health communication interventions using media, communication and health behavior theory and frameworks. The certificate requires 18 hours of graduate coursework, including three hours of practicum experience.

Certificate of Graduate Study in Maternal and Child Health

The 15-credit MCH Certificate of Graduate Study provides students an opportunity to expand their knowledge and increase their comprehension of mothers, children, and their families to improve their health and well-being. Through course content and mentorship, you will learn about: (1) MCH foundational knowledge, research and practice (2) How theories and evidence translate into policy. You will develop skills necessary to (1) Communicate with all persons from diverse groups (2) be leaders in the MCH workforce.

Certificate of Graduate Study in Environmental Nanoscience and Risk

This cross-disciplinary certificate provides the fundamental concepts and principles of environmental nanoscience and risk to constitute a common ground for multiple STEM disciplines. The certificate will serve employees of agencies and organizations related to regulation and governance of nanoscience and nanotechnology who wish to enhance their professional credentials by adding the foundations of environmental nanoscience and risk to their expertise.
