Hospitality Management at South Carolina

Whether you pursue a career in a hotel, restaurant, resort or private club, you will be well prepared with the fundamentals of business ⎯ accounting, economics, business law, communications and computer applications.

What to Expect

All hospitality management majors receive a similar range of operational and management instruction. The combination of two mandatory internship experiences and exciting electives will allow you to tailor your learning to a specific setting. In your courses, you will develop important skills including analytical, communication, organization, time management, human resource management, service management and technology skills.

Industry professionals and program faculty will prepare you with expert insights so that you are well prepared for anything that comes your way.

 

Undergraduate Degree

B B.S. in Hospitality Management

The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management is accredited through Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration. It is one of just two Club Management Association of America certified programs and one of only six offering Introduction to Master Sommelier Training. 

The following courses fulfill some of the requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management:

  • Introduction to Hospitality Industry
  • Hotel Management
  • Quantity Food Production
  • Foundations of Tourism
  • Club Management
  • Hospitality Practicum
  • Functional Accounting I and II
  • Computer Applications in Business

Students wishing to pursue the concentration in club management are required to complete 15 credit hours of coursework including Club Management, Club Cuisine and Service, Advanced Club Management and the Hospitality and Tourism Internship.

Graduate Degrees
