Each tenured faculty member, regardless of rank and including those in departmental administrative positions, will be reviewed every six years unless, during the previous six year period, the faculty member is reviewed and advanced to or retained in a higher position (e.g., dean, a chaired professorship, promotion to a higher professorial rank).
Post-tenure review will be waived, however, for any faculty member who notifies the unit chair in writing of retirement within three years of the next scheduled review.
Complete information regarding post-tenure reviews of faculty can be found in the
USC Columbia Faculty Manual on
page 32.
Please contact the relevant department chair or dean for department- or college-specific
post-tenure review guidelines.
2008-2009 Post-Tenure Review Calendar
The Post-Tenure
Review Calendar is produced each year by the Provost Office. It identifies
key dates and deadlines for all colleges/schools, departments and faculty
members relating to the Post-Tenure review process.
Unit Criteria for Post-Tenure Review
Individual departmental or college/school
Unit Criteria for Post-Tenure Review must be
reviewed as well as the University policies identified in this site.
Tenure Clock and Post-Tenure Review Table
Most tenured faculty members will be reviewed
every six years following receipt of tenure. This table tracks when a faculty member
becomes eligible for Post-Tenure Review, based on date of tenure. **Please note that the calendar does not take into
account possible changes to a faculty member’s status, such as an administrative
appointment or chaired professorship review. Please see the Faculty Manual on
page 32 for more information.
