University E-mail Spam Management
The University E-mail system
uses spam filters to weed out unwanted e-mails. These can be
customized and configured to your liking. Below are instructions
for using spam filters in your University E-mail account. The
University uses a program called Sonicwall to filter these
messages.Accessing and configuring

You may access your current Spam using the address https://myspam.mail.sc.edu/
Below is the login screen that you will see to access your spam and configure your spam settings.
By default all mail is categorized into 3 areas: Good Mail (which is forwarded to your mailbox), Likely Spam (which is stored in your 'Junk Box' for 30 days for your review/release/deletion), and definite Spam (which is deleted by default).
When you login, you will see your current Junk Box contents, as shown here. From this display, you can Delete or Unjunk items currently in your Junk Box. As you Unjunk a message, the sender's address is automatically added to your Allowed list; all e-mail from this sender will be passed on to your Inbox in the future.
You should review your Junk Box items regularly (and adjust your settings if needed) until you become comfortable with how your e-mail is handled.
By selecting the Anti-Spam Techniques icon, you can setup/review/change people, companies and e-mail lists whose e-mail should never be considered Spam. For each e-mail that you Unjunk, the sender's address is automatically added to your People Allowed list. From this page you will also be able to access your Anti-Spam Aggressiveness settings.

By selecting the Anti-Spam Aggressiveness link, you may adjust your setting for various categories. You may or may not wish to change these settings; most settings do not need adjustment. You should only make a change to these settings if you need to adjust how your spam is scored/categorized.
Be sure to Apply Changes after making any changes on this page to save the changes.

By selecting the Settings icon, you can review/change your settings for how your definite Spam and Likely Spam will be handled. You may also delegate another user to manage your Spam and settings. By default definite Spam is deleted and you will not be notified; Likely Spam will be stored on the system for 30 days prior to its deletion. To review your Spam prior to its automatic deletion, you will need to unselect Adhere to Corporate defaults and select Store in Junk Box and delete after 30 days.
Be sure to Apply Changes after making any changes on this page to save the changes.
