Nourish your mind and body this Wellness Week

Student Health Services wants everyone at the University of South Carolina to learn about their bodies and minds during Wellness Week, Oct. 28- Nov. 4.

The week will include information sessions and lectures on everything from sexual health to domestic violence. All events are free for students, faculty and staff.

  • GRIT (Gentlemen Respecting Interacting in Truth); Oct. 28, 5:30 p.m., Thomson Student Health Center first floor lobby: This all-male group was created to educate men and encourage discussion about sexual assault as defined by South Carolina state law and University of South Carolina policy

  • GSPOTS: Gamecocks Speaking Proactively on Topics of Sexuality; Oct. 28, 6:30 p.m., Russell House Room 303: Join Sarah E. Wright, licensed psychologist in the Counseling & Human Development Center, as she creates an open space to anonymously (through text) ask whatever questions you have about sex and sexuality.

  • Domestic Violence @ Work Conference;(Register through Oct. 28) Oct. 29, 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Russell House Theater: A group will discuss how domestic violence affects the workplace, how to recognize and respond to domestic violence in the workplace and how to respond effectively to domestic violence on campus.

  • SAVIP: Empty Space at the Table; Oct. 30, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Greene Street in front of the Russell House: This poignant exhibit demonstrates the devastating result of domestic violence and helps ensure that these deaths are not forgotten.

  • Say Boo to the Flu; Oct. 31, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Greene St. (rain location is Russell House 2nd floor lobby): Pick up hand sanitizer and get tips for staying well! And go to the Thomson Student Health Center to get your flu shot!

  • Fall Body Image event; Oct. 31, 9 p.m. in the Russell House Ballroom: Pick up information on self-care and positive body-image.
