USCPD responded immediately to the tragic events that happened Thursday, Feb. 5 and the community reacted with an overwhelming amount of support as UofSC mourned the loss of professor Raja Fayad.

“USCPD restored students' faith in the Carolina Alert system with their prompt and effective response to Thursday's shooting,” said senior Lora Stearns. “They were able to keep not only the Carolina community, but also our families and friends informed throughout the afternoon.”

“The way USCPD handled the situation was phenomenal,” said public relations major Savannah Knight. “As a junior, that was the fastest I have ever seen a Carolina Alert be sent out about any situation. I felt like they had everything under control and the USC population knew what to do. I applaud USCPD for their work and thank them for what they do everyday. “
