All students are encouraged to apply to serve on the Congressional Advisory Board.

The Congressional Advisory Board serves primarily as the voice of the students to the federal government. Some of the tasks that you would be responsible for as a member of the board include assisting congressional members in finding better solutions to academic, financial and social issues that concern students, collecting data on student values, developing policy presentations and working with legislators in our nation’s capital to advocate for students’ views.

Once the board is selected, members will meet once or twice weekly for the remainder of the 2015-16 academic year to work on education policy research.

The board will compose a report that will be distributed to every member of the South Carolina delegation in the U.S. Congress. Additionally, members will travel to Washington D.C. over spring break to lobby their policy ideas on Capitol Hill.

Applications are due by Sept. 11.
