Get connected to UofSC

Whether it's your first semester at UofSC, or your last, it is important to feel at home during your time at school. It can make a huge impact on your experience both inside and outside of the classroom. Here are some ways that you can make UofSC feel like a second home:  

Get involved

Whether through intramural sports, a student organization or an internship, getting involved can make you feel much more connected to the UofSC community! UofSC has more than 400 student organizations and many leadership opportunities for you to enrich your college experience.  

Sit outside

UofSC has more than 450 acres of campus for you to explore!Home to more than 6,000 trees [pdf], UofSC is a winner of the Tree Campus USA Award. Find a place you really like and spend some time hanging out outside, and enjoying the South Carolina weather.  

Go to campus events

There are all sorts of events on campus aiming to keep you entertained. Carolina Productions hosts comedians, concerts, cultural events and many more with the same goal! Take advantage of these and it could make all the difference in your year.

Get to know your professors

Getting to know your professors will not only make your feel more connected to UofSC, but it will also make you feel more comfortable inside of the classroom. UofSC offers an “Out To Lunch” program to give students a venue to get to know their professors on a more personal level. Try it out, and build relationships with your professors.

Experience Columbia 

Go beyond our campus borders. Columbia is home to tons of restaurants, events and outdoor activities that you can take advantage of in your free time. Get to know the city!
