Students can set up a free membersip to a research account with the Inter-university Consortium of Political and Social Research, an international consortium of more than 700 academic institutions and research organizations. The organization maintains an online data archive of more than 500,000 files of research in the social sciences and 16 special collections.

Students can also apply for the consortium's 2016 Summer Program for basic and advanced training in social science research methodologies and technologies. Courses include hands-on analysis of research datasets, and the instructors are experts in their fields who are adept at making complex subject matter understandable. There are four-week courses as well as three- to five-day workshops.
