Volunteer to assist with eclipse events

On Aug. 21 the city of Columbia will be engulfed in darkness for two minutes and 29 seconds as the moon covers the sun during a total solar eclipse. Columbia has been deemed the best place on the East Coast to view the eclipse, and the event is scheduled to bring thousands of tourists to the city. The university is preparing viewing stations and informational programs to accommodate the campus community and visitors. Volunteers are needed during the eclipse and the preceding weekend. Interested students can apply to volunteer online.
