VIDEO: They're back! Students move-in to the residence halls.



Just like the swallows of Capistrano, the Gamecocks migrated back to Carolina for the fall semester. More than 6,700 students lugged boxes, bags, TVs and computers up stairs and down hallways.

It's an exciting time for the University family, but especially for the class of 2018.

 

Move-in By the Numbers:

  • 4,900- estimated number of students in the freshman class
  • 30,000- the estimated student population on the Columbia campus
  • 57- the expected number of high-school valedictorians in the freshman class
  • 51- the percentage of South Carolinians who make up the freshman class
  • 407- the estimated number of students who will enter the South Carolina Honors College
  • 760- the estimated number of students who will enter the Capstone Scholars program
  • 5,138- the number of textbook orders prepackaged by the University Bookstore
  • 212- the number of sections of University 101, Carolina's seminar class for first-year students
