SC PRESS RESPONSE TO COVID-19

March 19, 2020

Here is a brief update on how the Press is responding to COVID-19:

First, the entire staff is working remotely, adapting minute by minute, and making progress. We are in close and regular communication with copyeditors and printers and other partners, and all books in the pipeline are moving forward as scheduled. While it's not exactly business as usual, we are committed to maintaining continuity and meeting our deadlines.

Second, our warehouse is open for business and actively shipping books. For books purchased through our website, we are offering 40% off plus free shipping (via media mail) on the purchase of two or more books with code JSPRING20 at checkout. We have also offered independent bookstores free shipping—a cost they typically absorb—for the next three months.

Third, in an effort to help teachers and learners, we are making all of our ebooks free and openly accessible for the next three months on the following platforms: MUSE, JSTOR, ProQuest, and EBSCO.

We are in an extraordinary time, and all of us are facing challenges we could not have imagined just a few weeks ago. Throughout it all, our mission remains clear: to publish high-quality, peer-reviewed print and digital books that explore the human experience, engage teachers and learners, contribute to academic disciplines, and inspire conversations about social and cultural progress.
