The Pat Conroy Literary Center will hold open house hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the Pat Conroy Literary Festival. This is your chance to visit the new Center, to see a Pat Conroy exhibit, and to learn more about the Center's plans for 2017.

See materials on display from the USC Libraries Pat Conroy Archive and Conroy family personal collections and get a preview of Pat Conroy Literary Center programs tentatively scheduled to begin in 2017. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Archivist Jessica Crouch will give a brief gallery talk about the exhibit. This event is free and open to the public.

Archivist Jessica Crouch will give a gallery talk about the exhibit. Following the afternoon's (sold-out) bus tour of Beaufort with Bernie and Maggie Schein, the Scheins will sign copies of their books, Famous all over Town and Lost Cantos of the Ouroboros Caves. Pat's daughter Melissa Conroy will also be at the Center signing copies of her newly released Lowcountry Coloring Book. This event is free and open to the public.
SOLD OUT!—Daufuskie Island Tour with Sallie Ann Robinson

Limited to just 25 participants
See Daufuskie Island with Sallie Ann Robinson, Pat Conroy's former student turned acclaimed Gullah chef and cookbook author. By golf cart, tour the Mary Field School immortalized by Pat Conroy in The Water Is Wide. The two-room schoolhouse where Conroy taught Robinson and her classmates was built in the 1930s and still stands today. Also visit the First Union Baptist Church built in 1884. Restored in 1996, this building has served as a center of faith and worship on the island. Lunch for the tour participants will be served at the Calibogue Club overlooking Calibogue Sound. Return to mainland on the 1:40 ferry.
$80 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Please allow for at least one-hour of travel time between Beaufort and the ferry embarkation site on Hilton Head Island. Two tours, each limited to just 20 participants
Guided by Pat Conroy's longtime best friend Bernie Schein and Bernie's daughter Maggie, this bus tour will take guests to sites in and around Beaufort associated with the writing life of Pat Conroy, including the gravesite of Col. Don "The Great Santini" Conroy, the Green, Conroy's past residences on the Point, and other locations. This tour will begin at the University of South Carolina Beaufort's Center for the Arts, ending there as well. A book signing with Bernie (author of Famous all over Town: A Novel) and Maggie (author of Lost Cantos of the Ouroboros Caves) will conclude the tour.

Carolina Writers at Home Photography Exhibition

Free and open to the public, this exhibition of Rob McDonald's evocative photography of twenty-five North Carolina and South Carolina writers, from Beaufort to Boone, captures each subject in her or his habitat, preserving the writer's distinctive personality as well as the particular character of the writer's home. Included in this exhibition are photographs of Pat Conroy, Cassandra King, and festival presenters Elizabeth Cox, Josephine Humphreys, Jill McCorkle, and Roger Pinckney, along with many others.
