Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in submitting your work for the consideration of Story River Books. We accept open submissions during two reading periods each year: June 1 to July 31 and December 1 to January 31. Due to the high volume of submissions, proposals and manuscripts received outside of those reading periods will be automatically declined. Please follow the submission guidelines below.

To have a project considered for the Story River Books imprint, please submit the following:
· A cover letter that briefly describes the work (scope, purpose, and length), explains how it differs from competing works, and assesses its likely readership.
· A synopsis of the complete work and three representative chapters (if submitting a novel) or three representative short stories (if submitting a collection of short fiction).
· A current curriculum vitae or résumé.

All projects must meet the approval of the series editor, two anonymous peer reviewers, and the USC Press Committee to gain approval for a publishing contract.

Story River Books is not presently soliciting short stories for multi-author edited anthologies. Only novel manuscripts and book-length collections of short stories by a single author will be considered.

Submissions should be sent to:
