Committee to search for new USC Press director

A committee formed through the Office of the Provost will begin searching for a new director of the USC Press following the Oct. 6 announcement of Catherine Fry's resignation, effective Dec. 31.

Fry said her decision was the result of positive changes in her life over the past year, including plans to marry and move to Orangeburg.

Richard Showman, an associate professor of biological sciences and chair of the USC Press Committee, said the committee would like to find a replacement for Fry before her departure.

Fry joined the USC Press in early 1995 from Louisiana State University Press, where she served for 16 years, including stints as marketing manager and associate director.

The press publishes some 50 titles a year with net sales totaling $1.7 million.
