USC's Theatre South Carolina will hold auditions for its fall productions from 7 to 10 p.m. April 28, and April 29 in the Booker T. Washington basement classroom, Room 102. Callbacks will be held at 6 p.m. April 30.
To audition, actors must sign up at the Department of Theater and Dance, located on the fourth floor of Longstreet Theater. Each actor should prepare two contrasting monologues. In addition, scripts will be given for reading at the audition. Each audition will be no more than two minutes.
The fall semester plays include Tartuffe, by Moliere; The Glass Menagerie, by Tennessee Williams; and Polaroid Stories, by Naomi Iizuka.
Theatre South Carolina welcomes participation from students, faculty, staff, and members of the community. USC employs nontraditional casting, a practice of using ethnic minority actors, female actors, and physically challenged actors in roles where these elements are not essential to the story of the play.
Auditions for spring 2004 productions will be held in November. The plays for the spring include The Trojan Women, by Euripides, and Love's Labor's Lost, by William Shakespeare.
