The University of South Carolina has rescheduled its fifth annual Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Lectureship to Nov.18. It previously was scheduled for Oct. 23.
This year's lectureship will focus on Catholic-Jewish relations and will feature Eugene J. Fisher of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops whose lecture is titled "Covenant and Mission in the Catholic-Jewish Dialogue." Fisher will speak twice, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and both lectures are free and open to the public.
Fisher, who is in charge of Catholic-Jewish Relations for the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, will speak on "Covenant and Mission in the Catholic-Jewish Dialogue."
The schedule for Fisher's Nov. 18 visit includes:
- 3 p.m. Symposium, Lumpkin Auditorium, Darla Moore School of Business, corner of Barnwell and Pendleton
Fisher will outline the history of Catholic-Jewish relations, with Sanford Marcus, rabbi of Tree of Life Congregation in Columbia, responding. Four other facilitators from Catholic and Jewish faiths will raise brief questions for Fisher and Marcus.
- 6 p.m. Dinner, by invitation
- 8 p.m. Lecture, Tree of Life Congregation, 6719 N. Trenholm Rd., Arcadia Lakes
Lecture will be followed with a period of questions and answers.
