USC Sumters Tenth Annual Big Wednesday Golf Tournament and Tailgate Party will take place on Nov. 19 with food, fun, and friendly rivalry for the entire family. All profits from Big Wednesday will fund scholarships
Golf Tournament events will begin at Pocalla Springs Country Club at 11 a.m. with registration, lunch (provided by Heavenly Ham), a putting contest, and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., said Melissa Colvin, USC Sumter director of alumni relations. Jeff Barber, of the USC Athletic Department, George 'Big Boo' Rogers, Jim Stuckey, and other surprise golfers will be playing. There will be prizes, a hole-in-one contest, and a years worth of bragging rights for the Carolina or Clemson four-man captains choice team that wins the tournament.
The fun will continue Wednesday evening with the states largest indoor combined Carolina-Clemson Tailgate Party at 7 p.m. in the campus Nettles Building gym. A barbecue dinner will be served along with music, games, and door prizes.
The "Gaudiest Gamecock" and "Tackiest Tiger" contests will be held, as well as opportunities to win an autographed Lou Holtz football and Carolina-Clemson football tickets. USCs Cocky and Clemsons Tiger mascots, along with cheerleaders from USC and Clemson, will entertain throughout the evening.
Golf tournament participants will pay a $50 participation fee, with Tailgate Party tickets discounted to $10. Tailgate Party tickets for adults are $12.50 in advance, $15 after Nov. 14; $5 for children ages 612.
