| The University celebrated Arbor Day Dec. 6 with a tree-planting ceremony in the Carolina LeConte Gibbes Garden.
The garden, a resource for the University and the surrounding neighborhood, is located behind the scholarship office on College Street across from the BA building.
In South Carolina, Arbor Day is celebrated the first Friday in December. That date offers newly planted trees the greatest chance or survival. The first Arbor Day in South Carolina was celebrated in 1934.
