The Moore School of Business has named Steven B. Meadows executive director for business and external relations, a newly created position.
Meadows will direct all graduate internship, placement, career management, and both undergraduate and graduate alumni functions of the Moore School of Business.
"In the current economic climate, it is imperative that we have someone of Steve's caliber to provide the strategic vision and focus that are required to advance the reputation of our graduate program," said Joel A. Smith, dean of the school. "Steve's vast experience in a variety of business fields will allow him to guide the school in these critical areas."
Meadows, a native of Columbia and a 1972 graduate of Dreher High School, comes to USC with an impressive background in several industries, including consulting and financial services. He earned his bachelor's degree from Clemson University in 1976 and a master's degree from Georgia Tech in 1978. He worked for Ford Motor Company, AT&T, and BellSouth before joining Towers Perrin Consulting in Atlanta in 1984, where he was elected a partner. After six years with Towers Perrin, he joined A.T. Kearney Inc., also in Atlanta, as a vice president and managing partner of its Southeast region.
He joined Citibank in New York in 1997 as head of Operations and Technology for Citibank's Global Corporate Banking unit. He was relocated to London in 1998 when Citigroup was formed from the merger of Citibank and The Travellers. During his career with Citigroup in London, he served five years as an executive vice president and managing director and was head of operations and technology for Citigroup's Corporate Investment Bank in Europe. He also served on the board of directors of Citibank International PLC and the Management Committee of the Corporate Investment Bank, Europe.
"I am excited to be working with such a dynamic group of people," Meadows said. "Their dedication to the students and the school is outstanding. My plans are to bring a corporate perspective to internships, career management, and alumni relations. On a personal note, my wife and I are thrilled to be back in our hometown of Columbia."
