Registration for USCs annual Alumni University May 1922 will continue through April 23. USC naturalist Rudy Mancke is among the line-up of popular and distinguished professors who will teach short sessions on an array of topics.
Mancke, whose classroom is the outdoors, will take his class on a field trip to the Congaree National Park. Other sessions will be led by President Andrew Sorensen, English professor Carol McGinnis Kay on crime-fiction writer Sue Grafton, political science professor Blease Graham on the arithmetic of the electorate, education professor Craig Kridell on the history of centuries-old and obscure instruments, genetics counselor Karen Brooks on creating your family's medical history tree, and anthropology professor Chris Toumey on the new world of nanoscience.
Alumni University also will feature guided tours and outings. This year's activities will include a tour of McKissick Museum, a trip to Columbia's new Edventure children's museum, and a USC-Wofford baseball game.
Participants have the choice of registering for the entire schedule of Alumni University ($250) or just Thursday ($100) or Friday and Saturday ($175).
