Faculty/staff workshops set for May

The USC Counseling and Human Development Center has scheduled several Faculty/Staff Between Semester Workshops for May. The free workshops include:

• Forgiveness, 2–4:30 p.m. May 12, with Ruthann Fox-Hines. The ability to let go and to forgive has been linked to positive mental and physical health. The workshop will provide time and space to consider many issues involved in forgiving, including the myths, the block, and pro-client steps.

• Healing Power of Laughter and Play, 2–4:30 p.m. May 19, with Ruthann Fox-Hines. Research shows that laughter and play have physical, mental, and emotional benefits. The workshop will focus on validating and/or expanding participant's ability to laugh and play, especially as a way of coping with life's stressors.

• Generation To Generation: A Look at Your Family Patterns, 10 a.m.–noon May 19, with Russell Haber. Families are interactive systems that dance together or apart over time. As families encounter challenges, they often resort to patterns and legacies that have been consciously and unconsciously passed down.

• Music and Mental Health, 10 a.m.–noon May 18, with Lynn Rosenzweig. The workshop will take a fun look at the relationship between music and mental health. Participants will discuss current literature for its uses and benefits and explore their personal relationships with music and how they can best use it in their lives.
