Spenser Project lead investigator to visit campus Oct. 11–13

Joseph Loewenstein, an English professor at Washington University in St. Louis, will give a number of lectures on campus Oct. 11–13. His visit will introduce the Spenser Project and present the range of interdisciplinary benefits it offers.

Loewenstein is the lead investigator on the project, which aims at combining a new scholarly edition of Collected Works of Edmund Spenser with a digital archive of early Spenser materials designed to serve as both a research engine and a teaching resource. USC English professor David Miller is a co-editor of the project.

Loewenstein's schedule at USC will include:

  • Oct. 11 Brown-Bag Lunch with Graduate Students, Noon, Department of English, Conference Room, Humanities Office Building Room 111A

  • Oct. 11 "Bench Humanities: Spenserian Experiments with Undergraduate Research," lecture,
    3 p.m., Gambrell Hall, Conference Room 429

  • Oct. 13 "Shakespeare's Stamp: A Research Colloquium on Sealed Documents," 3:30 p.m., Graniteville Room, Special Collections, Thomas Cooper Library.
