The USC Dance Company will present four evening performances of Dance! Dance! Dance!, a showcase of student choreography and reconstructions of 19th-century ballets, Dec. 14 at Drayton Hall Theater.
Curtain time is 8 p.m. for all performances, which are part of the Theatre South Carolina series from the Department of Theatre and Dance. Tickets are $5 for the public and will be available at Longstreet Theater beginning Nov. 30 or by phone at 7-2551.
The student-choreographed pieces feature a range of musical genres and dance styles, from the Beatles to funk, and from ballet to modern dance. In addition to the student pieces, artistic director Susan Anderson will stage Fairies from Sleeping Beauty for the USC Dance Conservatory students.
The highlight of the production is Pas de Quatre, which was reconstructed by Wendy Rickenbacker for her Honors College senior thesis. The ballet premiered in London in July 1845 during the Romantic Era and featured the four greatest ballerinas of the day. The four principal ballerinas in USCs production are Misha Eady, Sara Wilson, Allison Bergman, and Caroline Privette.
