| Anne Firor Scott, professor of history emeritus at Duke University, will deliver a lecture entitled, "Performers in Black and White: Jane Addams and Pauli Murray" Dec. 2. The event is part of the Women in the South Lecture Series sponsored by the USC Department of History and the Institute for Southern Studies.
Scott is W.K. Boyd Professor Emerita at Duke University and author of The Southern Lady (1970, 1995), One Half the People (with Andrew M. Scott), Making the Invisible Woman Visible (1984), Natural Allies: Women's Associations in American History (1992), and Unheard Voices: The First Historians of Southern Women (1993). Much of her recent research has focused on the parallel lives of black and white women. A former president of the Organization of American Historians (OAH), Scott was awarded the OAH Distinguished Service Award in 2002.
The lecture begins at 7 p.m. in Belk Auditorium, Business Administration Building. A reception will follow the lecture.
