Online courses offered for faculty this spring

The Learning Resources Network (LERN) will offer three short online courses for higher education faculty this semester.

The classes are:

  • “Generational Learning Styles," with Julie Coates, Feb. 28–March 4. Different generations have different ways of learning. Learn more about students and your own learning style. The instructor is an authority on the demographics of learning styles and generational learning.
  • “Building Learning Communities in Cyberspace,” with Rena Palloff and Keith Pratt, March 14–18. In the online classroom, it is the relationships and interactions among people through which knowledge is primarily generated. Learn how to create this kind of interaction with the authors of a popular book by the same title.
  • “Teaching Online," with William A. Draves and Mary Dereshiwsky, April 4–8. The course is oriented both towards distance learning and campus or classroom classes. Participants will learn how teaching online can be integrated into the classroom setting.

For more information and online registration, go to www.teachingonthenet.org/.

For questions, contact Bettie Wright, Distance Education and Instructional Support (DEIS), at bwright@gwm.sc.edu or Doris Stephens, DEIS instructional development manager, at stephens@gwm.sc.edu.
