USC Beaufort's "Lunch with Authors" set for April 20

Designer and author Susan Sully will be the featured speaker at USC Beaufort's annual "Lunch with Authors" April 20. The event begins at noon in the Carolina Room of the Dataw Island Clubhousein Beaufort. Sully will present a slideshow and give a lecture comparing architecture and design in Charleston, Savannah, and New Orleans.

A graduate of Yale University with a degree in art history, Sully lectures frequently on the subject of regional design. She has written numerous many books on style, including Savannah Style: Mystery and Manners; Charleston Style: Past and Present; Charleston Style: Then and Now; New Orleans Style: Past and Present; and New Moroccan Style: The Art of Sensual Living. She also writes regularly about the decorative arts, architecture, and life styles for publications including Southern Accents, Coastal Living, and The New York Times. She is currently writing a book about the Spanish influence on the architecture of Florida (scheduled for release in mid 2005). She lives in Charleston with her husband, painter Thomas Sully.

Created in 2001, the USC Beaufort "Lunch with Authors" series is a forum for Lowcountry authors and authors who write about the Lowcountry. The series is sponsored by the USC Beaufort Office of Continuing Education.
