Leaves of Grass at 150: an Exhibition from the Joel Myerson Collection of Nineteenth-Century American Literature will be on display in the Mezzanine Exhibit Gallery at the Thomas Cooper Library August 30October 15.
In 1855, American poet Walt Whitman published at his own expense a volume of 12 poems, Leaves of Grass. It was criticized because of Whitmans exaltation of the body and its innovation in verse form. The exhibit will feature items related to this work.
The "Leaves of Grass at 150" exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours.
