The Shoestring Players at USC Upstate will perform Epic Proportions at 8:15 p.m. Nov. 1012 and at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 13 in the main theater of the Humanities and Performing Arts Center.
Set in the 1930s, Epic Proportions tells the story of two brothers, Benny and Phil, who go to the Arizona desert to be extras in the huge biblical epic Exeunt Omnes. Things move quickly in this comedy, and Phil soon is directing a movie and Benny is starting in it. To complicate the story, they both fall in love with Louise, the assistant director in charge of extras. Along the way, there are gladiator battles, the 10 plagues, and a cast of thousands portrayed by four other actors.
Cast members include Kristin Chambers as Louise Goldman, John DeYoung as Phil, Xavier Hernandez as Benny, Scott Pilgrim as Mr. DeWitt, Charlianne Wyatt as Queen/ Ensemble, Tom Fields as Shel/Ensemble, Jennifer LePearson as Jill/Ensemble, Brittany Applewhite as Cochette/Ensemble, Georgia McCarroll as Ensemble, and Caroline Carwile as Ensemble. USC Upstate student Emily Kelly is the stage manager.
