The second in a series of public conversations about energy and its implications for public policy will take place at 4 p.m. April 17 in Gambrell Hall, Room 250.
The event is free and open to the public.
The lecture, entitled "Why an Academic Left the Hallowed Halls to Advocate Action on Climate Change," will be delivered by Bill Chameides, chief scientist with Environmental Defense. He will explain why he left academia after 30 years, most recently as Regents Professor and Smithgall Chair at the Georgia Institute of Technology, to work for an advocacy organization.
Greg Carbon, a professor in the USC Department of Geography, will present information from a South Carolina perspective about climate, particularly as it relates to anticipated changes.
This event is presented by the USC School of the Environment, USC School of Law, West Quad Learning Center, and the Sustainable Universities Initiative.
