Because the summer months are usually very critical times at the Red Cross when the blood supply often runs short, USC holds an annual summer blood drive.

The drive is sponsored by University Advancement and the School of Medicine.

This summer's USC faculty/staff blood drive will take place July 18 and 19 at three locations in Columbia.

• July 18 1600 Hampton Street
  The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked at this location and will accept donors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment to give blood at this location, call Kathy Stogner at 7-1809. Appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes.
• July 19 Russell House Ballroom
  Donors can give blood from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with appointments scheduled every 15 minutes. Call Amie Ritner at 7-2070 to schedule an appointment to give blood at this location.
• July 19 School of Medicine
  Donors can give blood in Building #1, Multi-disciplinary Lab, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment at this location, call Tony Johnson at 733-1507. These appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes.

Donors must be in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. All donors will receive an attractive Red Cross t-shirt as a 'thank you' for their participation.
