Applications sought for vice provost for faculty development

The Office of the Provost is inviting inquiries, applications, and nominations for the new position of vice provost for faculty development.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • managing faculty hiring actions and programs including significant expansion of the number of tenured and tenure-track faculty
  • coordinating tenure and promotion actions on behalf of the provost, and developing and maintaining policies and procedures pertaining to tenure, promotions, post-tenure review, and periodic performance reviews
  • managing the sabbatical program and developing and overseeing a faculty mentoring program
  • supervising the newly established Center for Teaching Excellence designed to help faculty and doctoral students improve teaching
  • overseeing and coordinating faculty awards for teaching, research, and service excellence, and overseeing the named and endowed chairs program
  • assisting the provost in matters of faculty retention
  • coordinating initiatives involving diversity and equity among the faculty.

Applications and nominations are invited for the position to be available by Aug. 16. Applicants should send a letter of application, a complete resume, and names of three references.
