Johnathan Lucky, president of the University of South Carolina Beaufort Student Government Association (SGA) has been elected chairman of the board of the South Carolina State Student Association (SCSSA) at the annual SCSSA Conference in Charleston.

SCSSA is an organization of presidents of student government associations from universities and colleges across the state. SCSSA meets monthly, bi-monthly by telephone conference call, and every other month at meetings hosted by different campuses around the state.

Two major goals of SCSSA over the coming year will be to expand its membership among USC affiliates as well as non-USC institutions and to launch voter registration drives on member campuses, Lucky said.

A junior business major with a minor in Spanish, Lucky is serving his second term as USC Beaufort SGA President.
