The USC Beaufort Office of Community Outreach will host a grand opening celebration for its new classroom facility at Pineland Station on Hilton Head Island from 4 to 6 p.m. September 22. The celebration will include a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by USC Beaufort Chancellor Jane T. Upshaw and local dignitaries. Light refreshments will be served.
The public is invited to attend the event. Anyone wishing to attend should RSVP by calling the OLLI office at 843-208-8249.
The new storefront facility will be used for classes by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at USC Beaufort during the day and for conversational Spanish and English-as-a-second-language classes at night.
The lifelong learning program managed by OLLI at USC Beaufort has been in existence for more than thirteen years, and currently serves more than 840 members throughout the Lowcountry.
OLLI conducts educational programs for senior adults. These not-for-credit classes have no entrance requirements and there are no tests. Members take these classes simply for personal enrichment. This coming year, OLLI will offer more than 230 classes in a wide variety of subject areas, including arts and culture, ecology, finance, gardening, government, history, literature, music, and science.
