USC Salkehatchie announces women's soccer program

USC Salkehatchie has fielded its first women's soccer program, which is set to begin play this fall. The squad will consist of approximately 15 players and will compete in NJCAA Region X.

"The girls report for practice on August 14," said Head Coach Mitch Smith. "Our main goal for the year is to work hard every day, trying to become better as individuals, and ultimately, as a team. If we accomplish this goal, we will be competitive and have a chance to win our share of matches."

The team's inaugural schedule features 10 regular season matches and the Region X Conference Tournament. The schedule also includes six region matches and a contest with NCAA division I opponent, S.C. State University. The season begins Sept. 1, as the Lady Indians travel to Louisburg College. The first home match will take place on Oct. 3, when they take on Spartanburg Methodist College. All home matches will be played o n USC Salkehatchie's West Campus in Allendale. Admission is free for all home matches, and the public is invited to attend. For more information, go to the Lady Indians' website at www.salksoccer.org.
