The 2007 Rudolph C. Barnes Sr. Symposium will be held at the USC School of Law Auditorium from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 2 and 3. "Legitimacy, Legal Development, and Change" provides 15.5 hours of CLE credit.
The USC School of Law is located at 701 South Main Street in Columbia. The Barnes Symposium is free and open to the public and will be available via live Web cast.
The Rudolph C. Barnes Sr. Symposium honors Barnes' interests and engagement through an annual program examining problems of law and morality understood in the broadest sense. The Barnes family has made the event possible through a generous endowment in his memory.

Barnes (1917-1995) studied at USC (B.S. 1937, LL.B. 1940), served in the Navy during World War II, then returned home to become a prominent member of the South Carolina bar.
For more than 40 years, Barnes remained active in charitable and religious organizations, and in parallel served in the local business community as founder and chairman of the Bank of Commerce of Prosperity, chairman of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and general counsel for the South Carolina Bankers Association for more than 30 years. In 1993, he received the Compleat Lawyer Award from the USC Law School Alumni Association for his significant contribution to the legal profession and embodiment of the highest standard of professional competence, ethics, and integrity.
Lawyers who wish to register for continuing legal education credit should attend the event in Columbia, preregister, and, unless they are speakers, members of the judiciary, government lawyers, full-time legal educators, or members of the South Carolina Bar Military Law Section, pay a $75 administration fee.
