Virtual School of Computational Science & Engineering Summer School

We are happy to announce that the University of South Carolina has been granted the opportunity to be a host site for the 2012 Virtual School of Computational Science and Engineering (VSCSE) Summer School program ( http://www.vscse.org). The VSCSE summer school provides courses and learning resources to help computational science students use emerging petascale computing resources to address real domain science problems.

COURSES

The VSCE will be convening three Summer School courses for the 2012 season. These courses all focus on bridging the gap between the frontiers of high performance computing and the practical techniques needed to leverage these developments for the practice of computational science and engineering. Course topics that CR-CISI will be hosting locally at the USC include:

  1. Programming Heterogenous Parallel Computing Systems (July 10-13, 2012)

  2. Science Cloud Summer School (July 30 - August 3, 2012)

  3. Proven Algorithmic Techniques for Many-core Processors (August 13-17, 2012)

VENUE

These courses will be delivered to sites nationwide via videoconferencing technologies, allowing people to participate from all locations across the country. This way participants will be able to work with a cohort of fellow computational scientists, have access to local experts, and interact in real time with school instructors.

Here at the USC, all the courses will be delivered in the IMI Video Conference Room, located in Room 219 of Sumwalt (1212 Greene St, Columbia, SC) on the USC campus. A marked-up google map with meeting location, hotel, and parking information as well as picture of the Sumwalt building is provided below.
