Step Five: Register for Classes

Students may register for some or all their courses during their advising appointment. Full registration access will be available immediately following advisement. Use the following resources to help you navigate the registration process.

Course Registration on Self-Service Carolina

All course registration will take place via Self-Service Carolina (my.sc.edu). A few videos to help you navigate the registration process are available below:

The Registration Resources page also has detailed information about the registration process at USC. While registering for your first semester schedule, you may be particularly interested in these pages:

  • Course restrictions Provides information on reasons that a course may be restricted to a certain student population, and how to identify restricted sections
  • Field of study restrictions – Provides information on which courses and/or course sections are limited to certain academic programs and the timeline for lifting restrictions (if applicable)
  • Registration help  – Frequently asked questions and additional resources to support your  registration

Drop/Add Deadline

The Drop/Add deadline for the Fall 2026 semester is August 24, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. This means that you may make changes to your course schedule with no penalty up until this date. Remember that you are responsible for knowing your academic program requirements and registering appropriately. If you decide to make changes to your registration after your advising appointment, you are strongly encouraged to check in with your summer advisor to make sure you stay on track for your academic program!

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
