Background
Hometown: Columbia, SC
About Me: I am a two-time USC graduate from the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Education. My two proudest accomplishments at USC are earning Graduation with Leadership Distinction (GLD) and receiving "the Mug" for marching in the Carolina Band for all four years of college. I am so thankful for my years as a student at USC and am happy to give back by working at this wonderful university. When I am not helping students, I enjoy listening to podcasts, (re)watching Survivor, Big Brother, and RuPaul's Drag Race, and walking 10,000 steps a day!
Favorite Quote: "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” - Maya Angelou
Advice to Students: College is not just about lectures and exams. While excelling in the classroom is important, the relationships you build, skills you develop, and life lessons you learn outside the classroom are critical to your personal and professional growth.
When you graduate from USC, you'll want to have a resume filled with so many experiences, student organizations, community service, study abroad, internships, leadership opportunities, social advocacy, and more. You'll also want to have a couple of failures every now and then-we learn more from failure than we do from success.
We have a ton of resources at USC to help ensure you will optimize your time in college, but you have to take the initiative to utilize those resources. As Winnie-the-Pooh says, "Always remember, you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." You got this and you have a village of people at USC who has your back!
