Background

John founded and coached the men's rugby program at Furman University. He compiled a 165-60-1 record, captured three national championships and finished runner-up three times. John is the only college rugby coach to coach in a Division II and Division III national championship game. In 2008, Furman Trustees voted to name the University’s rugby field John S. Roberts Rugby Field in recognition of his leadership and mentoring.

John enjoys working out and writing. Outside of his career as a coach, John has worked 25 years in higher education marketing and communication. Most recently, he served as an Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications at a university in Georgia.
