Home Page Banners

Your home page banner is the first place you can showcase your brand personality. Think of it like a billboard — a self-contained message that should be refreshed regularly.

There are two types of home page banners available in the CMS. Choose a banner type based on your content. If you have strong horizontal images, use the larger banner.

Banner Types

    Large Home Page Banner

The large banner is an 1140 x 580 pixel image with the top 70 pixels covered by the transparent college or school header.

    Small Home Page Banner

The small banner uses a 680 x 430 pixel image and works with all kinds of images thanks to its standard size and non-overlay text.

Choosing Images

When using photography, choose striking and simple images to convey your message. Tighter cropping and a focused subject matter will create better images.

  • Both home page banners can accommodate a caption, including a headline, description and link. Aim for a 20-character headline and a 190-character description.

On large banners, the caption box is optional and can be positioned at the top right, bottom right or bottom left. Be sure your caption doesn't cover an important part of your image.

On a small banner, the caption is required. It's centered vertically on a garnet background.

  • The image area of both banners can hold a single video. The banner contains a still image with a play button to indicate it’s a video.

When a user clicks anywhere on the banner, the video will open in a lightbox to play.
