Enhance Your Teaching with the New Classroom Feedback Program

A new Classroom Feedback program, led by CTE Instructional Designer Casey Carroll, supports instructional development through structured, formative feedback. The program includes three components: Classroom Observation, Midterm Student Feedback, and Peer Observation Training for Faculty. Each is designed to encourage self-reflection and promote effective teaching practices.

Classroom Observation

Faculty may request a classroom observation conducted by a CTE instructional designer. The process includes a pre-observation conversation, an in-class visit (either in person or virtual), and a follow-up consultation. Observations focus on student engagement and instructional strategies, with feedback grounded in research-based teaching frameworks.

Midterm Student Feedback

Instructors may request a midterm student feedback session between weeks four and eight of the semester. A brief student survey is administered, and a summary report is provided highlighting key themes. Faculty then meet with an instructional designer to review the results and identify potential adjustments to improve the learning experience for the remainder of the current course and in future courses.

Peer Observation Training for Faculty

A Peer Observation Training series is available to help faculty build skills for observing and providing feedback to colleagues. The training emphasizes evidence-based practices and supports the development of a shared approach to constructive, formative observation across departments.

Together, these three components provide multiple ways for instructors to receive feedback on their teaching and engage in professional reflection. Participation is voluntary and open to all faculty.
