CTE Expands Outreach through Department Visits

During Fall 2025, the Center for Teaching Excellence launched a new outreach effort focused on connecting directly with academic departments across the university. Through this initiative, CTE staff visited 33 departments, joining faculty meetings for 10-15 minutes to share information about CTE resources, programs, and services that support teaching and learning.

The department visits have been coordinated by Courtney Bailey, CTE instructional designer. These visits created space for meaningful exchange and helped strengthen connections between CTE and departments across the university. Conversations also provided insight into how departments are engaging with teaching innovation and where additional support may be helpful.

The department visit initiative has continued in Spring 2026. Seven department visits are already scheduled, with additional visits planned as interest continues. For Spring visits, departments may request a brief micro presentation aligned with their specific needs. Possible focus areas include digital accessibility, classroom observations, interpreting and responding to student feedback, teaching online, virtual environments and gamification, or another topic identified by the department. Presentations may be offered in person or virtually.

CTE is committed to meeting you where you are to support your teaching and learning efforts. Departments interested in scheduling a visit are encouraged to contact Courtney Bailey at cb193@mailbox.sc.edu
