William Pruitt, Ph.D., serves as the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Project Manager.
In this role, Pruitt will manage, coordinate, and track progress towards implementation of Priority 4 of the University's strategic plan: build inclusive and inspiring communities. Pruitt will coordinate with the Division of Human Resources, the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support, and the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs amongst others in an effort to achieve diversity and inclusion goals within the University's strategic plan. He will oversee implementation for UofSC's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategic Plan. Pruitt will be the key contact for stewardship of the plan and will work with other units across the university to track and support the plan's implementation.
He has worked in higher education for the past twelve years, focusing primarily on global engagement and study abroad.
Pruitt previously served as the Assistant Director of Global Collaborations at the University of South Carolina from 2016 to 2019. In that role, he worked with faculty, staff and university partners to develop study abroad programming for students.
Prior to joining the University of South Carolina, he served as the Assistant Director of Global Education at Virginia Tech. He is a graduate of Winthrop University with a B.A. in Political Science. He also holds an MBA from Winthrop, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Virginia Tech.
