The University of South Carolina is committed to collecting survey data every two
years to evaluate our progress on addressing campus climate as it relates specifically
to our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Spring 2018 marked the second time
that we collected survey data for undergraduate students, faculty and staff.
University scholars agree that students, faculty and staff thrive (both socially and
academically) in inclusive environments where diversity is valued and the general
principles of civility are practiced. Your feedback helped to inform the ways in which
we are, or are not, living up to the values expressed in our Carolinian Creed. Your
feedback also informed our recently Board of Trustees approved Equity and Inclusion Plan.
We will continuously work to foster a respectful, equitable and inclusive university
community and strive to improve the working and learning environment at our university.
Survey Results and Transparency
- Survey results were not reported in any form that would identify an individual.
- Results will be used to make tangible improvements to the experiences of all members
of our university community.
- We are committed to transparency. Results of our 2018 campus climate survey and 2016 undergraduate student climate survey are posted for you to review.
Survey Administration and Confidentiality
- Surveys were sent vial email to all undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty
and staff of the UofSC-Columbia campus.
- Participation was completely voluntary.
- While responses are not anonymous, they are completely confidential.
- Respondents were permitted to skip and questions that made them uncomfortable.
