The Inclusive Excellence Institute education sessions are designed to help individuals and teams deepen their knowledge and understanding of leveraging inclusive excellence through education and lived experiences and applying those skills to action. 

Ouch! That Stereotype Hurts

Leslie Aguilar is the author of Ouch! That Stereotype Hurts: Communicating Respectfully in a Diverse World Video-based training programs: Ouch! Your Silence Hurts fosters an environment of courageous conversations and respect while creating an opportunity for meaningful dialogue using a common language to speak up against stereotypes, bias, and disrespect. You will gain skills to speak up against stereotypes and microaggressions. 90 minutes (1 ½ hours)

What’s Your Story 

Who you are matters! Writing and telling your story/stories takes courage. Learning about yourself requires vulnerability and honesty as you might discover secrets, stereotypes, values, inequities, bullying, new family history, celebrations, biases, privileges, and traditions.

Knowing our own diversity story helps you understand “All kinds of diversity” according to Koppelman. Telling and owning your story/stories can be extremely empowering and many times gives voice to those who may have been silenced or excluded.  60sec Truths stories leave individuals with key concept to focus on their own lives, lessons, and experiences.

Topic examples: endurance, perseverance, excellence, activism gender, faith, becoming, individuals will highlight their journey and share their 60sec truths. (Culture conversations) There is a pre-assignment requirement that you will receive once you register for the course. 120 minutes (2 hours)

Creating Your Own Intentional Inclusive Excellence Action Plan

Prerequisite for course: “What’s Your Story” 

You will use your Access, Belonging, Equity, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion story to create an intentional inclusive excellence plan using the following DEI education principles inclusive growth mindset, inclusive practices, inclusive culture and belonging and inclusive leadership. 90 minutes (1 ½ hours)

Psychological Safety

Psychological safety is crucial in promoting inclusive leadership and developing a sense of belonging within a team. This training will introduce participants to the concept of psychological safety and its four stages: Inclusion, Learner, Contributor, and Challenger. The participants will explore methods to create and foster psychological safety to address implicit bias, navigate microaggressions, and handle conflicts efficiently. This training is highly recommended for managers. 60-90 minutes (1-1/12 hours)
